Prophecy of the Internet of Things (IoT)
Written by Li-Chang Kuo
For resolving the jobless
problem, we’d done many efforts to develop ‘RF Transmitter’ to attain the
concept of ‘EPS, ESD, ESS, VAM’ to be ‘Global Channel-TES’ and later be called as ‘internet
of things’ that was often reported by the newspapers. In 1990, I accepted The
Newspapers to write an article on the ‘Electrical Yearbook’ which published
by the ‘Commercial Times’ as well as ‘Economic Daily News’ for
‘October
Electronic Expo’ in Taipei .
In which there was a paragraph as following:
In the era of future ‘Information
Economy’, person to person, consumer to business, or business to
business—the transactions or dealings among them such as ‘Place the Purchasing
Orders, Quotation of merchandise, Content Introduction and Payment’ that all
can be via VAN (value-added net) or ISDN (integrated service digital network)
to manage the things. To that era, it’s really ‘Knows Everything at Home’. When
you miss those loved ones, even separated by the vast ocean, just a phone call
that can communicate each other through network and be visible in addition to
talk. All of these, we need a series of the electronic machines to integrate, the
electronic machines include HDTV, VCR, Camera, Satellite Receiving System,
Stereo, Computer, Telecommunication and the related facilities to combine
together, in order to produce the satisfactory results. Of course, there will
be sophisticated electronic components among the machines required for
connection, and then be able to transmit the signals accurately. Therefore, the
potential market of these electronic components infinitely.
Above published concept
in 1990 contained the transactions of ‘Business-to-Business’ (B-B), ‘Business-to-Consumer’
(B-C) and ‘Person-to-Person’ (P-P or C-C, consumer-to-consumer), preliminary construction
of a model to achieve a practical framework for common acceptance, and fully
consistent with conventional online shopping patterns of people today. Because
wherein ‘TV, VCR, Camera and Stereo’ belong to the category of ‘Consumer
Electronics’ which is the first ‘C’, that integrate with second ‘C’ of ‘Computer’
and third ‘C’
of ‘Communication’ to be ‘3C ’;
the most important component is ‘RF Transmitter’
among them. ‘EPS’ means electronic payment system, ‘ESD’ means entry security
device, ‘ESS’ means electronic shopping system, and ‘VAM’ means vending
automation manager, they all required ‘RF Transmitter’
for calculating –communicating -computing to construct a multilateral trading
system—‘Global Channel-TES’ an international best practice officially presented
by Linda Din of Panhornic ComMec Hoding Company at APEC 2003.
In 1993, U.S. President
Bill Clinton took office and then singed an executive order to untie the cross-industry
operation for telecommunication and television in addition to the release of internet from military to civilian
usage, and to attain the dream for integration of 3C . Moreover, ‘Telecommunication Satellite System’—GPS
also gradually opened to the civil use. During the 1990s of Bill Clinton in
power, the world truly entered the information society; the result was a strong
tie related with Taiwan ’s
civil advocacy—at RSA, Smart Card Alliance and APEC to gain the consensus, form
the bills and policies, and action plan to promote the infrastructures for
implementing internet of things in the era of ‘Information Economy’.
